Hello! My name is Silvana Espinoza (she/hers) and I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Oregon. I have a MS in Psychology from CalPoly – San Luis Obispo, CA, and a Bachelors in Psychology from overseas. I work with individuals, groups, and couples from a systemic perspective. I have worked in residential and outpatient settings with individuals experiencing severe mental illness and personality disorders. I have experience in domestic violence, intercultural communication, non-violent communication, burnout, and mindfulness. I base my practice in the use of ACT, CBT, and DBT, and IFS, narrative therapy and the Gottman method when working with couples. I work with individuals who experience anxiety, mood disorders, and PTSD due to their past trauma, issues with their family of origin, loss, and life transitions, and with couples and other non-traditional romantic systems at every stage of their relationship (marital, pre-marital, pregnancy, connection and communication issues, infidelity, and divorce). At every stage of therapy I also focus on other problems that may be contributing to your stress, communication challenges, or the increase of your symptoms, such as intergenerational trauma, racial identity, immigration/acculturation, 2nd generations, or struggles with boundaries and assertiveness. My approach is person-centered, humanistic, experiential, and existential. I like to be a compassionate ally to my clients and support them in a non-judgmental fashion throughout their journeys. I am LGBTQ allied, sex worker allied, body positive allied, and social justice allied.
