Dr. Bianca Ho., Counselling Psychologist & Infant Parent Psychotherapist

Qualifications:
Ed.D (CUHK), M.A. (U.S)
Reg. Psychol (Coun Psy, HKPS)
Certified NBO practitioner

Dr. Bianca Ho received her graduate training in Counselling Psychology in University of Southern Mississippi (USM), U.S. a programme which was accredited by the American Psychological Association. While training in USM, she did clinical training in the programme’s Community Counselling and Assessment clinic in which she worked with adults, children and parents. She also worked in the Laurel’s Children Centre at the Pine Belt Mental Health Clinic in which she worked mostly with disturbed children and parents.

Upon returning to Hong Kong in 2008, she took on a full-time teaching position in the department of counselling and psychology at a local private university during which she taught both undergraduate and graduate level counselling and psychology classes, provide clinical supervisions to counselling and counselling psychology trainees, as well as play therapist trainees. Apart from her teaching position, she has continued to provide clinical services through private practice at various private or non-government-organization counselling settings. She then completed her doctoral training in education with a specialization in Educational Psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014. In 2016, she received training and was accredited to be a Newborn Behavioural Observation (NBO) practitioner. Currently, she is the only psychologist in Hong Kong that practice NBO with this credential. She also was invited to be a project consultant for a 3-year-funded community parent education project.

Dr. Ho has a strong passion working with children and parents. She believes that many of the children’s presenting concerns and parent-child disputes stem from a very subtle form of misunderstanding between the parent-child dyad or among the family at a very early stage of development. Clinical experience of her has proven that when all parties are being “heard” “understood” and “accepted”, they would transform with awareness, follow by a series of positive spiral effects on their emotions, behaviours, and connections with each other.

Dr. Ho provides a well-rounded psychotherapy service or parents consultation for parents as early as in prenatal stage up through children in late adolescence stage. She also works with individuals and couple who would like to strengthen parent-child relationship, marital relationship or to address concerns on pre-postnatal depression and parenting concerns. She is keen on adopting an integrative treatment approach that aims at getting to the root cause of the presenting concerns.
