Melanie Rabalais LPC

Do you feel stuck out on your own private island? Are you feeling lonely all the time even with other people around? Everyone feels lonely occasionally and some people enjoy solitude, but loneliness is the feeling of one’s social needs not being met. Feeling emotionally cutoff and isolated from society can lead to depression, low self esteem and social anxiety. Even technology, a 24/7 presence in our lives, can create social barriers between people. It seems easier to spend more time on devices than with people. Together we can use therapeutic tools to calm social anxiety and make connections with the other people around you.

Clients find that I am kind and use my humor to create a calm and relaxed space. I make sure goals are set so we can identify successes that lead to completion of counseling. Using person-centered techniques and mindfulness give me the opportunity to work with people in life transitions, people with relationship issues, anxiety, and depression.

I want my clients to feel like I am holding space for them to meet them where they are in therapy. I am a visual thinker so I like to use expressive arts in my work if it seems helpful for my client.
