I have been practicing psychotherapy in various settings for over 20-years. I currently see clients in Iowa and Colorado through Thera-Link.

My primary emphasis is the therapy relationship. Once a solid therapy relationship is established, I collaborate with the people who come to see me to better understand themselves, grow, and find solutions to their life challenges.

My preference is to work with individuals without reliance upon labels or diagnoses except in situations where this may benefit the individual. Everyone faces challenges in life. Often, people are given labels that do not adequately reflect the complex social and personal aspects of difficult life situations. By working without reliance upon labels, I seek to free people to better understand the complexities of their situation and seek outcomes consistent with their personal values and desired outcome.

In addition to seeing individuals in therapy, I have been actively engaged in the field of psychology through training and supervising future therapists as well as engaging in scholarship and research. I have been recognized by the American Psychological Association as a fellow for my contributions to field of psychology. Being actively involved in training future therapists and engaging in relevant scholarship helps for me to grow as a therapist and remain current on relevant literature while also helping to advance the field of psychology.
