Thomas Crawford, PhD

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and my specialties are in psychological assessment, working with families who have a child with behavioral problems and/or disabilities, and psychotherapy with adolescents and/or parents. I work full-time (Mon-Thurs) at the Kaiser Permanente Autism Spectrum Disorders evaluation clinic since 2004 and have maintained a part-time private practice since 2008. While I mainly perform evaluations and provide consultation in the former, I enjoy the latter as I get to perform more direct treatment (i.e., therapy, coaching) as well as assessment.

My clinical interests are autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, and, in general, social, emotional, and developmental delays in childhood throughout young adulthood.

My Training and Credentials

Graduate School: I obtained my doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Connecticut in 2003. My research interest in graduate school dealt with the influence of fathers on the psychological functioning of their children.

Internship: Kaiser Permanente, Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in San Diego, CA

Post-doctoral Fellowship: Kaiser Permanente, Department of Child Psychiatry in Santa Teresa, CA

Another clinical experience includes being a counselor at a school for children with learning disorders, ADHD, and/or Asperger’s.

Other background/personal information: I live in the southern portion of the Bay Area, am married, and am a proud veteran (Army). My personal interests including hiking, various aspects of culture including movies, science fiction and video games (helpful interests to have when working with adolescents), and music.
